Hey Challengers! Here’s a little more housekeeping from Leah!

We’ve been getting quite a few questions about inserting pictures into posts, so we thought we’d do a little tutorial. There are two different kinds of submissions: Those that come via the submit link, and those that come via the Tumblr group (meaning, you already have a Tumblr username and/or you got an invite to the group from Rachel).

How you upload pictures will depend on how you submit your posts.

Posting via the submit link:

Unfortunately, you can’t upload multiple pictures directly into a Text post via the submit link. That means your choices are uploading only one picture, or uploading multiple pics using the “Insert image” button (instructions below).

• To upload just one picture, choose “Submit a Photo” from the dropdown list, select your photo, and input all your text into the “Caption” box.
• To upload multiple pictures, choose “Submit a Text Post” (the default option). Then, you’ll need to upload your pictures somewhere online using something like Flickr or TinyPic. Click the “Insert/edit image” button (the little tree) and paste your URL into the “Image URL” box. It SHOULD show up in the post at that point. When you’re ready to publish, click “Submit.” I just tested that method out using TinyPic, and it worked. For TinyPic users, use the “Direct Link for Layouts” URL. Rachel also tested it out on this morning’s post with Flickr, and using the photo’s URL (from the “All sizes” page) worked too.

Remember, IF YOU USE THIS METHOD, YOU’LL NEED TO INCLUDE YOUR NAME OR OTHER ID SOMEWHERE IN THE POST!

Posting via the Tumblr group:

You guys can use the first method above or, to insert multiple photos, create a new text post and use the “+ Upload photo” button in the upper right-hand corner to add pics whenever you want them to appear in the post.
