  • It’s Called Savory For Good Reason

    I knew exactly what herb I wanted to try this week, savory, but didn’t have any. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever seen it other than on seed packets. Either way, I was determined to try some. Found on a bottom shelf at Walmart [Kroger, you left me high and dry on this one] I read its best use - on pork. {sigh} I love ham and bacon, but pork loins and chops leave me wanting. But, determined to do this right I picked up a nice pork loin and set to applying my savory rub.

    This didn’t make me want more pork, but it did make me want to try it on other things. The flavor was just right and made the pork loin tolerable. The kids didn’t say anything one way or the other, but the husband really enjoyed the flavor. Maybe next time I’ll try it on chicken, or maybe on those stoplight peppers and beef kabobs in the works for Saturday. Mmm
