  • Sugar? No thanks.

I have come to the conclusion that I have way too much crap in my house. Yeah, clutter, too, but I’m talking about food. I learned a lot this week about how much sugar, sweetener, high fructose corn syrup, etc. etc. etc. is in the foods in my home. And I must say it’s a bit disheartening.

I managed to go 1/2 a day on Tuesday, but lost the challenge when I decided I was not going to pass up homemade stuffed shells for dinner. Of course there is sugar in the tomato sauce. So, Thursday I gave it another go. I managed to go the day without any form of sugar or sweetener that was not already naturally occurring, like in my banana. And I learned that 1) I don’t crave sugar - I didn’t miss it, but found there is some form in most of the foods in my home - and 2) there is high fructose corn syrup in Arizona Iced Tea. For shame! Guess I won’t be drinking you anymore.

I will be adding more naturally sweet veggies to my menu, since I have been really enjoying those stop light peppers. Check out these two [sugar-free] meals. And they were just a slice of heaven, too!

    food, glorious food!

    =) Anne
